After another disappointing postseason run, the Oklahoma City Thunder should pursue these five goals in the 2019 offseason to get back to the top of the Western Conference.

The Oklahoma City Thunder‘s offseason is here.

It began a bit earlier than they wanted.

April 23 marked the end of the Thunder’s 2018-19 NBA season, and it came in dramatic fashion with a Damian Lillard 40-foot game winner over Paul George‘s outstretched hand.

Now Oklahoma City begins to navigate the offseason. In some ways, this summer should be easier than those in the past. For the first time in three years the team doesn’t have to try to convince its star free agent to stay in town; Russell Westbrook and George are under contract for multiple years.

In other ways, this summer may be general manager Sam Presti’s most difficult in recent memory. How does he take a team with its core intact — while deep in the luxury tax — and improve it to reach its ceiling?

Many questions loom for the team and the franchise in general. If the Thunder want to maximize their talent and become contenders in the Western Conference, they need to go into the summer with these five goals.
