Finding betting value on the regular season’s final day, and today’s NBA odds and best bets

Today is the final day of the NBA regular season and there are still is still a playoff spot available in the East. In the Western Conference seeding is still to be determined from the second through the eighth. Playing for improved seeding

The Thunder are fresh off a come from behind victory after trailing by double digit points at home last night to the Rockets going into the fourth. It was a strong fourth quarter and a last second three-point shot from Paul George that secured the upset victory. Today, the Thunder face off against a Bucks team resting most of their starters.

The Nets have secured their bid in the postseason and can finish no higher than sixth and no lower than seventh. The Heat hope to pull off the upset victory in Dwyane Wade’s final game after dropping 30-points the night before.

The Under has been a strong play when these two teams meet up cashing in nine of the most recent 11, and four of five in Brooklyn. With the average score in the head-to-head over the most recent three 109-99 for the Nets, look for similar numbers and back Under the game total of 218.5.

Locked in defensively

The Pistons control their playoff destiny if they beat the woeful Knicks. The Pistons are coming off a poor offensive performance at home last time out versus the Grizzlies in a 100-93 victory where Detroit was down 15-points in the fourth quarter. And it’s sounding like they will have to do it without Blake Griffin due to his sore left knee.

Either way, the Knicks are one of the lowest scoring first quarter teams averaging 26.1, and 52.7 in the first half. With a near scare last time out, look for the Pistons to be very locked in defensively especially early on. Bet the Knicks Under their first half team total.

Taking advantage of the opportunity

The Warriors hope to get production out of their bench against the Grizzlies, as they have had the first seed locked up for a while. The Grizzlies only suited 10 players for their game against the Pistons, but nearly pulled off upset last night.

The Grizzlies’ Justin Holiday has closed out the regular season strong, scoring 20 and 30 points in two of the most recent three games. He has logged big minutes and is in a position to thrive versus a Warriors team playing almost entirely with reserves. Look for his success to continue and back Over his points total of 12.5.

Securing the two seed with a well rested squad

The Nuggets have been cautious with Nikola Jokic with him logging only 16 minutes over the most recent two games. With a win today over the Timberwolves, the Nuggets can lock up the number two seed in the West.

The Nuggets have won six of their last seven home games and 17 of 24 at home versus the Timberwolves. The Nuggets play at the second slowest pace at home, and have managed to hold the Timberwolves to only 104 points over their most recent three games. Look for Denver to control the game, and bet the game total Under 220.
